Biography:Sounds like...Catherine K S' style is described as alternative mellifluence and gorgeous arrangements to satisfy lovers of original alternative acoustic/indie/folk-pop - think Belle & Sebastian, REM, Joni Mitchell influences. Various comparisons to Bjork, Joanna Newsome, Cerys Matthews and Kate Bush. Sounds like none of them!
The Brighton based solo artist has gigged in various locations in the past including New Zealand, London and the South East. Also played in the club tent at
Cambridge Folk Festival in July this year (2007).
She has self-produced four CDs with all songs having been written, composed and performed solely by Catherine. She is currently working on a fifth album.
Quirky and Blown AwayUp until quite recently whenever anyone wrote anything about her, it always seemed to include the term "quirky". Quirky is different, and different has to be a good thing these days, so might as well love the term! But after her performance at Cambridge Folk Festival, quite a few of you lovely people in the audience came up to her and used the term "blown away"! We have to admit, that sure beats quirky! And one person said he didn't think anyone could top Seasick Steve's performance - but she just did - what a compliment! What's she like? She's an accomplished chocoholic, although has yet to beat her mother's record of downing a 100g bar of Green and Black's in 15 minutes. Hobbies include designing and making clothes and hopefully growing an abundant organic veggie patch if the landlady's cat stops crapping on it (or perhaps that helps?). Would love to own a long-haired dachshund. Has a great interest in things metaphysical and spiritual, but balances this with the physical ("I am physical as well - and so's chocolate too!"). |
